ABOUT SHAYNA

Shayna Zweben is a journalist, filmmaker and humanities instructor. She is the coordinating producer for Americanherstoryproject.com and has served on the production team for award-winning documentary, Tara’s Daughters, narrated by Susan Sarandon and featuring the Dalai Lama.  This film was accepted into The Smithsonian Institute Tibetan Archives.

As a freelance filmmaker, she has produced videos for nonprofits such as: Rustic Pathways (Fiji, Australia and Costa Rica), Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Kenya WildiZe Foundation and Operation Smile.

Shayna has worked in public relations and print journalism for Columbia TriStar Pictures, Byron Bay Magazine, National Geographic Television, Venice Magazine and The Daily Camera.  Her technical writing comprises web content and RFP proposals for Rx.marketplace.com, Comstor.net and Deloitte and Touche LLP. 

 

She has taught courses in film, journalism, dance and literature as a community college professor and teacher of all ages, in Colorado, Alaska, Costa Rica, New Zealand and Australia. 

Shayna holds a B.A. in English and Film from UCLA and an M.A. in Documentary Journalism from CU-Boulder.  Her awards include: Channel 9 News 9Who Care in Colorado, for dance therapy in inner-city schools as a principal dancer for Kim Robards Dance; Scripps Howard Award for feature writer at the Daily Camera and Best Digital Documentary Award Toronto and Sundance Film Festivals.
